Not That I Would Have Been Able To Join In...
From the pieces I put together reading Facebook updates, it appears that girls from my sorority pledge class had a little reunion this weekend.
Good for them.
My feelings are hurt.

Another Fine Parenting Moment

If you know me at all, you know that it is a rare thing for me to go to events like this. It is even a rarer thing still to do this with friends. I'm a social person, but most of my socializing is done in groups and includes my husband. I don't "do" lunch. I don't have "girls' nights out." So I was pretty excited about this and RSVP'd early. I then told Dr. Pop that I was going and found out that he would be out of town. This meant that Boy Pop was to come with us.
All-in-all, the evening was great! Janna and I tasted some fabulous wines, got great goodie bags and t-shirts, browsed some fab clothes and purses, and just had a nice time. All with a 5 year old. Yes, I was that woman with a wine tasting glass in one hand and a little boy's hand in the other. And here's where I totally brag…
My son behaved like a dream! He didn't whine, fuss, or make any commotion. He contented himself with rolling a racecar on the tables and tasting some cheese and looking at the Christmas decorations. I was and am extremely proud of the fact that I can take him places (places that are decidedly not kid-friendly) in a pinch and he knows how to act. He's a great kid.
Our one little "uh-oh" moment came via nature. Halfway through our time there, Boy Pop looks up at me and said, "I need to go potty." So I took him upstairs to the ladies' room. We walked through the doors and he rather loudly announced, "I need to go poo-poo." Right in front of the woman who was putting on lipstick. She couldn't get out of there fast enough! Lucky for us, the large handicapped stall was free, so we went in there and Boy Pop began his business. And then it started happening… He started talking himself through it. And his face got redder and redder and he did something he never does… He started grunting. All the while, I hear the door opening and closing, women coming in and out of the bathroom. I tried to shush my son, but he was so cute and he was having such a hard time of it, that my heart just wasn't in it. So I did what any mother in the late 2000's would do… I texted my husband a running commentary!
Quote of the night: Mommy, I'm not done yet, I still need to toot a little more.

Oh Man!
It was a wild evening fueled by beer, champagne, and Pom Martinis. And cookies and snacks (but no real dinner).
Snoop was bad ass. Bad. Ass.
We were pretty bad ass, too, with our "pimp" cups.
A great time was had by all, up until a little incident at the end of the night. I'm still waiting on the owner of the limo company to contact me with an official apology for the little piece of shit driver they sent us. If he doesn't contact me today, I'll be posting my letter to the company here.
For what it's worth, though, the police sided with us. ;)
I promise I'll share some of the stories. For now, they are just too jumbled...

Wonderful Weekend!
This past weekend was the first in a little while that included no set plans or places to be and that was just how I liked and wanted it.
We ended up spending the bulk of our weekend with some new old friends. We all drank way too much and continued to wonder why we hadn't been hanging out more before now. After all, we've known them ever since our boys were at Mother's Day Out together more than three years ago.
Our children played together for hours and hours and there were only three injuries (two were because of "play" fighting... the boys are obsessed with the UFC and don't know their own strength, and one was caused by running and falling on top of a mass of toys).
I love boys. They are so much fun!
Of course, my boy had to pay for the over-indulgence of the weekend and was a little sick today.
I've been in a somewhat cranky mood for the past week or so. It has nothing to do with home and everything to do with work. I won't get into it here because Big Brother IT can and probably does read everything. Suffice to say that getting blamed for someone else's mistake and incompetence is grating. Getting blamed because someone cannot enter in an address on an online order form correctly is even more grating. Doing the same people favors in an effort to fix their problems without so much as a "thank you for all your help" makes me want to slam my fist into my desk. Dealing with unresponsive folks who cannot do their jobs properly just piles it on more. Add in a week of PMS, and, well, you get the idea. Since I'm on working day 6 and counting of this crap happening, I'm more than a little out of sorts!
But all of the frustrations go by the wayside when I think about my fabulous husband and child I get to go home to see... And to top it all off, in one month, Dr Pop and I will be headed back to...
VEGAS, BABY!!!
Thanks for the trip, honey! XOXOXO!
It's gonna be []D [] []v[] []D!!!

July 4th Weekend
This July 4th weekend was one that we truly enjoyed here at the Pop household. We had an especially good kickoff to the weekend on Thursday, the 3rd, with a parade at Boy Pop's school. It was so cute! All the kids wore different hats that they'd made and Boy Pop's class had red, white, and blue banners that they waved in the air.
Dr Pop and I try to never miss an event at Boy Pop's school. The look on his face every time he sees us standing there is priceless and beautiful.
After the school day was over, we loaded up and went to our local AAA baseball team's home game. Even though it was hot, we had terriffic seats behind home plate, in the shade. We ate junk food, watched our team win, and Boy Pop got to play with some friends.
The team moved its usual Friday night fireworks show to Thursday, too. They do it up right and their show rivaled the other local shows the next evening.
For the actual 4th, we lamented the fact that we'd left the planning too late and stayed home. But it wasn't at all boring. We had friends over, hung out at the surprisingly empty neighborhood pool for swimming, grilled good food, I made a cake, and we had our own little (ahem! illegal!) fireworks show.
Oh yes. There were also some beverages involved. The big boys acted silly while the girls and Boy Pop laughed.
After we decided to call it a night outside, we came in, ate some more, and watched The Spiderwick Chronicles. My only regret was that Boy Pop fell asleep before the end, so he did not see the good guys win.
Saturday and Sunday were lovely and relaxing days spent swimming and hanging out at home. Even though we did not turn the long weekend into a trip to an exotic locale, it was definitely a great one!
