Ski School

Oh yeah, we took this little trip to Colorado a couple of weeks ago...

It was a great trip. We stayed and skiied Beaver Creek, but wandered around all over the place, spending time in Vail, Avon, Edwards, and Beaver Creek Village. We relaxed, shopped, skiied, sledded, and enjoyed each other's company.

Crazy, I know!

This trip went much more smoothly than the last time I took a week-long vacation with my parents, husband, and son. We all got along for the most part and didn't have many hiccups. Well, aside from getting rear-ended on our last day. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt and Boy Pop did not even feel it. The four adults felt the impact, for sure, but we're all fine. Stupid ice on the road!

The other blessing is that the claim was filed with the other woman's insurance on the spot and Hertz actually filed the claim instead of charging the credit card.

I really have no grand stories from the trip, other than to say that my kid is a freakin' snow monster! Promoted three times in two days of ski school! He sledded, climbing the hill behind our condo over and over and over again until we thought our legs would fall off! He made snow angels. So did I. He dunked himself face-first in the fresh powder (48" over the week we were there) so many times I was surprised his face didn't freeze off.

Boy Pop was just so much fun to watch while we were on vacation. He had a blast and we had a blast with him.

My dad, Dr Pop, and I also spent some time on the slopes, skiing hard in the deep powder. Early December skiing is always iffy, and we hit it right this year. All but two lifts had opened by the time we got there (as a sad twist of fate, the lift right at our condo opened the day after we left, but we are opportunists, so used it as our own private sledding hill!). The resort was not crowded, and we never had to wait in line for a lift.

Great trip! We even had a smooth airline experience with Frontier Airlines of all carriers! In 2005, they cancelled our flight so we rented a minivan and drove the 16 hours home. Both trips (both the 2005 and 2008 trips) had endings that matched the week. One smooth flight home and one nightmare. ;)
