Already Marking Things Off!

11. Donate my time/money/goods to a good cause
24. Get rid of the monster TV upstairs
31. Try a new recipe

Three things are now crossed off the list! Unbeknownst to me as I typed up the list of things to get done, my husband was arranging with our maid to take the TV off our hands. Well last night, she arrived with her husband and two of his friends. 45 minutes later, the TV was downstairs and on its way to their truck. Whoo-hoo! You may not think this is such a big deal as it is only a TV after all, and I wish I had a picture to show you, for now you'll have to settle for my description... This TV was probably 5.5 feet wide and 5 feet tall. It was two feet deep. It weighed 400 pounds. It took three burly movers and my big burly husband to move it upstairs in the first place! That TV had not been used in probably 4 years. The only purpose it served was as a dust-collector. And now? It is gone! I'm doing a happy dance in my chair right now.

As for the try a new recipe thing? Well last night I made crab cakes. From scratch. The recipe came from my Cooking Light Cookbook. Dr Pop thought they were very good. I did not like them. But I'm off the hook for culinary creativity for the next 1000 days! Yeah, right. I'm going to try other new recipes for sure. It's a complete creative outlet!

I also just went to a website (brought to my attention by Jessica) that helps classrooms in need. The website is www.donorschoose.org. You get to pick the classroom project you'd like to help and also how much you'd like to donate. It doesn't take much if everyone gives a little.

About this list, Dr Pop was kind enough to point out that there were quite a few "soft balls" in there. And yes, there are. But just because I do something easy on the list once doesn't mean that will be the only time I do it. It's more of a reminder of the things I really need to do for us and for just me. :) And there are quite a few things on that list that are seemingly "easy" in theory, but in practice, are more difficult. It's easy to write a thank you note. It's difficult to make myself sit down and do it in a timely manner. It's easy to read a book. It's difficult right now for me to want to read. I have reader's block. It's easy to blog. It's easy to exercise. And my piddly $10 donation to a classroom in Texas does not completely remove #11 from my list. There's lots of stuff on the list that I plan to do much more than one time in the next two and three-quarter years. But there are some things on that list that I have been paying lip service to for far too long. It's time to hold myself accountable for doing them!

**Edit: Dr Pop sent me a picture of the Gigantatron, Jr. TV... And now that the TV has been moved, we must paint and repair the parts of the stairwell that were accidentally damaged in the process... ;)
